Find Your Home Away From Home in Alpha Chi

Letters From Our Recruitment Team!

Hello beautiful people! My name is Lily Rafanan and I am the Vice President Recruitment of the Epsilon Omega chapter of Alpha Chi Omega here at Cal Poly SLO. Our chapter cannot wait to meet you all during formal recruitment this upcoming fall quarter! As you transition toward your next years at Cal Poly, you may not know what path you want to take. Looking back at my freshman year, I remember being worried about finding my people, and felt so overwhelmed at a school of 22,000 students. I was nervous but eager to go through the recruitment process, in hopes of finding a group of strong women who would appreciate and support me throughout my college experience and the rest of my life. At the beginning of formal recruitment, I was incredibly nervous and had no idea what to expect. However, throughout the process, I had the privilege of meeting so many inspirational women in the Panhellenic community, making me feel so grateful I chose to Go Greek! A process that was once so foreign to me made me so excited for my college experience and even more excited to join a sisterhood with so much to offer and endless amounts of love. I found that sisterhood in Alpha Chi Omega.

My biggest piece of advice is to put yourself out there, as we are so excited to meet your unique self during formal recruitment this fall. My college experience would be so different if I didn’t allow myself to be vulnerable and show the real me to every wonderful woman I got to talk to. Every Alpha Chi I met was so motivated, kind, unique and unapologetically themselves, and I knew from the love they showed each other that I would find my home here. Joining Alpha Chi Omega has truly made my college experience, giving me my best friends, roommates, my amazing sorority family, academic resources, and the most incredible support system that I can come to for absolutely anything. These women have shaped me into who I am today, and I am so proud to call them my sisters.

College is a wild ride, full of ups and downs, opportunities of a lifetime, and the best people. I cannot express how excited we are for you all to begin your journey here at Cal Poly and join the wonderful Panhellenic community. Our chapter cannot wait to meet all of you this fall in SLO and share with you what it means to be an Alpha Chi.

Hello everyone! My name is Julie Martin and I am the Vice President of Recruitment Information for Alpha Chi Omega. AXO is stoked to meet you during recruitment in the fall! Adjusting to college can be difficult, leaving everything you know and transitioning to a new academic and social environment. During my freshman year, I came to Cal Poly not knowing what to expect or what organizations I wanted to be a part of, making me feel isolated, lost, and alone. I didn't know much about the Panhellenic community until I started making friends during my winter quarter in the dorms who were a part of FSL organizations. My friends, especially Paige Ackerman, encouraged me to go through informal recruitment (COB) because of the great opportunities that the Panhellenic chapters have to offer, including a sense of sisterhood, leadership opportunities, and philanthropic events.

I went through the informal recruitment process and found my home in AXO. Joining Alpha Chi was the best decision I ever made. I found exceptional individuals who I look up to, such as my sorority family, sisters within my major, and all of the executive board. These boss ladies support me through each and every decision I make. They are always there for me when I'm feeling down and want the best for me. Being involved in an organization with such strong women has allowed me to become the best version of myself.

If you are debating whether or not to go through the recruitment process, I highly recommend giving it a try! My best piece of advice is to be confident in yourself and own what makes you special. Alpha Chi Omega is thrilled for you to embark on your college journey and go through recruitment during the fall to find your forever home. Our chapter is super excited to meet you and we can't wait to show you our love for Alpha Chi!

xoxo

Julie
